Studies of millions of patients have shown that there is a direct link between sleep and age. The shorter the sleep, the shorter the age. So, if you want to live longer and stay healthy, you need to get enough sleep.

 

Sleep is such a way of keeping yourself healthy that does not cost anything, nor is it a bitter medicine that makes a person hesitant to drink. In fact, sleep has so many benefits that even some doctors prescribe sleep to their patients as a treatment. Sleep has innumerable benefits. There is no part of the mind and body that is not badly affected by lack of sleep, but sleep should be natural because sleeping pills can cause other illnesses.


Effects of Sleep Deprivation On The Mind And Body:

Almost all of the diseases that cause death in developed countries are related to sleep deprivation in some form or another. These include Alzheimer's, cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, depression, anxiety, and suicidal tendencies. These all are related to sleep to some extent. Sleep is essential for the proper functioning of all physical and mental functions.

Because the damage to our body and brain is repaired during sleep and you will wake up refreshed. But if the sleep is not complete, the repair will still remain incomplete. It was found after research that there are only benefits of sound sleep. You’ll fail if try to find its harmful impacts.

How Long You Need to Sleep?

The short answer is seven to nine hours. Less than seven hours of sleep is against the physical and mental performance and let toward the diseases of the body. Also, affects the immune system. Staying awake for 20 hours has the same effect on a person as taking a drug in excess than prescribed.

 

One of the problems with sleep deprivation is that you don't immediately notice its side effects. It's just like that an intoxicated person thinks he is fine and healthy. But you know he's not OK.

Over the last 100 years, there has been a clear decrease in sleep in developed or conquered countries. Now people do not get deep sleep due to which they can not even dream.

Although dreaming is essential for our creativity and mental health. Although scientists are aware of the importance of sleep, they have not yet tried to inform the public about it.

Most people do not realize the importance of this so they do not think much about it.

 

You go out early in the morning and come home late in the evening. Then you also want to spend time with family and friends. You also want to watch TV for a while. All of this results in a lack of sleep. A big problem is our perception of sleep. If you tell someone that nine hours of sleep is necessary, they will look at you with strange eyes. Because ordinary people think that only a lazy person sleeps for so long.

The habit of sleeping more has become so infamous that people are proud to say that they sleep less. In comparison, when a child sleeps more, it is considered good. Because more sleep in children is considered necessary for growth and development. But with age, our attitude towards sleep begins to change. On the contrary, those who sleep more are reprimanded.

We need a hormone or chemical called melatonin for a good and healthy sleep, which our body produces only in the dark. Unfortunately, one of the effects of industrial development is that you now have a constant light around you. It gets worse with LED screens because blue light further reduces the production of melatonin.

 

Is It Possible to Repair the Damage Of Sleep Deprivation?

Yes and no, the elapsed time cannot come back but a good change can be brought at any time. The idea that you can make up for lost sleep later is wrong. Excessive sleep on a holiday can never cure sleep deprivation. For this, it is necessary to change the daily routine and give full time to sleep.

 

So, get a good night's sleep: Get up at the same time every day. Make yourself accustomed to the darkness: Turn off the lights and turn off the screens one hour before going to bed. Sleep at least 7-8 hours per day to remain fit and healthy.
